The fire, which started around 1:20 a.m. Monday at 129 Hunt Drive in the Village of Florida section of Warwick, was already fully involved when police and fire officials arrived with smoke and flames visible from the windows, said Lt. John Rader.

Madeline Gwozd was found dead inside the home once the fire had been put out and firefighters were doing an inspection of the interior, Rader said.

Gwozd, who lived alone, was reported to have mobility issues, Rader added.

Firefighters from the Village of Florida and other departments responded to the fire.

The home, which was completely destroyed, has been condemned,  Rader said.

Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it appears to be accidental, Rader added.
